As we usher in the new year, we’re also ushering in a new era at Wellmark. Because we’re excited to announce that Candice O’Sullivan is our new Managing Director.
For many of you, Candice will need no introduction. She’s practically part of the furniture at Wellmark, having joined us way back in 2006 as a wide-eyed dynamo who was fresh from the hospital wards. Candice started her professional life as a doctor before becoming a medical writer at Wellmark, and that clinical experience has proven to be invaluable for our clients – especially since she complemented it with a Master of Marketing from Melbourne Business School.
While Candice still does the occasional spot of medical writing when the need arises, most of her career at Wellmark has been spent working in strategy. During that time, Candice has developed and implemented marketing communications and brand strategy for some of Australia’s leading healthcare and pharmaceutical brands.
Candice has been our Director of Strategy and Planning for many years, and she will continue to perform this role in addition to her responsibilities as Managing Director. Oh, and she’s also an owner of the business. If you’re thinking that sounds like an awful lot of work for one person, you’re right – but if anyone is up to the challenge it’s Candice. Everyone who has worked with her will tell you that she’s a consummate professional with an almost preternatural ability to quickly make sense of complexity.
In Candice’s own words: ‘I’ve been part of this company for 17 years. It’s in my blood, it’s in my heart – a barnacle of sorts! I’ve grown and matured alongside Wellmark and am delighted to now lead us into the future. We have an amazing team who will continue to set the bar for what it truly means to deliver quality healthcare communications. Health and care remain our focus; we are passionate about this sector and the role we play in taking care of the brands – essential (and often critical) people, products and services – that serve this industry and take care of all of us.’
Suffice it to say that we agree. We’re thrilled to have Candice as our new leader as we navigate the road ahead in 2023.
