This month, Wellmark proudly celebrates its 25th anniversary! Commencing in October 1998 as an agency specialising in medical education and pharmaceutical marketing, our work now spans the entire healthcare sector.
Over the years, we have worked with some of Australia’s most well-known healthcare organisations, including the Australian Medical Association, Alfred Health, the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association, Beyond Blue, CSL and the RACGP. In doing so, we’ve supported these organisations to raise the profile of our healthcare workforce, grow disease awareness and introduce new population health initiatives.
Our deep heritage in pharmaceutical marketing means we’ve partnered with a wide range of pharmaceutical companies, both here in Australia and overseas. These industry partnerships have delivered some of our most conceptual and highly-awarded work. One of our signature pieces of work was designing Australia’s first industry-sponsored home infusion program, which ran successfully for well over a decade. Importantly, it validated a new model of care for supporting the uptake of innovative new medicines without over-burdening the public hospital system. These days, we’d call it an excellent CX initiative!
We are also proud to have supported a wide range of healthcare start-ups and their passionate founding teams. Most recently, we helped to launch Jumar Bioincubator, Australia’s first and only biotech incubator to be co-located with a leading biopharmaceutical company in a world-class biomedical precinct. This shared initiative of CSL, WEHI and The University of Melbourne was a pleasure to work on, not least because of its potential impact on research commercialisation in Australia.
Each year, we deliver at least one pro bono project in the healthcare space. In the last couple of years, this has included helping to deliver The Butterfly Foundation’s National Eating Disorders Collaboration report, and launching Cancer Mind Care, a new online service for improving the mental health and wellbeing of people with cancer.
Of course, the people who deliver all of this work, the Wellmark team, has always been special – no matter who moves in and who moves on at any particular time in our journey. We’ve always had a loyal and long-serving team who take pride in being part of a small, independent agency that consistently punches above its weight. We may not be the biggest or the loudest, but we know we are the agency that people look to when there is really important or challenging work to be done in healthcare communications. This was never more true than during the pandemic when we were called upon to support the launch of the COVID-19 National Clinical Evidence Taskforce.
To help celebrate this milestone in our agency’s history, we’ve put together a special silver edition of our showcase reel. Because we work in highly-regulated spaces, we can’t show you everything (pharma, we’re looking at you!). Other than that, this reel is chock-full with the clients and projects we’re chuffed to have worked with over the years.
